Full refurbishment of the existing Apollo Orthopaedic Operating Theatre.

ESDP undertook the full design of the building services including general lighting, surgical lighting, IPS/UPS and small power, fire alarms, nurse call, heating, ventilation, comfort cooling, domestic water services, BMS controls, medical gases and multi-service pendants all in compliance with the current HTM and HBN guidance.  The works included the installation of a new Air Handling Plant within a constrained existing plantroom containing other ventilation units which had to be maintained in operation.  The ventilation system also included a new UCV canopy within the operating theatre and new pressure stabilisers throughout the operating theatre suite.

The project involved a high degree of collaboration between the Trust, the Principal Contractor and the design team to highlight and resolve any technical, co-ordination, or user impact risks early on before they caused any problems to adjoining operational areas.  The project included a significant change part way through with the addition of the Recovery Area AHU replacement.  This was taken on and co-ordinated into the scheme with minimal impact to programme.
